Nia Walters, LMHC, C-DBT

Nia Walters is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) practitioner. She is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of her clients. With a strong educational background and a passion for helping others, Nia hopes to build trust with her clients as their mental health is her priority.

She began her journey in Counseling with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marist College. During her undergraduate studies, she developed a deep understanding of the human mind and the factors that contribute to mental health challenges. She was particularly drawn to the idea of providing support and guidance to those in need, which led Nia to pursue her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, also at Marist College.

Throughout her graduate experience, she gained valuable experience within her practicum and internship rotations working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and dealing with a wide range of mental health issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and difficulties with new life transitions (to name a few). While Nia believes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, she draw largely on therapeutic interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to empower her clients and collaborate on setting achievable goals to overcome obstacles.

Nia strives to maintain an empathetic relationship with her clients and understand their circumstances on a deeper level, helping clients to navigate their challenges and work toward healing and personal growth. In her therapeutic practice, it’s important to her that she creates a safe and non-judgmental space allowing clients to share openly and honestly.
