Our Team

Emily Chernow, LCSW

I believe that every person is shaped by a unique combination of life experiences, relationships and personal challenges. Together we will explore how your past experiences contribute to your current circumstances and address unhelpful thought patterns that influence your present day life, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

I work with adults and couples experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, sexual trauma and life transitions. I specialize in identity exploration, sexual shame, LGBTQ+ concerns, relational difficulties, healing from purity culture and attachment wounds, and work with high functioning executives. I have experience with grief and loss and am a LGTBQ+ and Kink Affirming clinician.

As a Queer therapist, I understand the impact that societal factors can have on mental health and identity development. I strive to create an affirming, inclusive space where clients can explore their experiences authentically without fear of judgment. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness and live in alignment with their values and authentic selves.

I have training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Sex Therapy and Existential Psychotherapy. while tailoring to the unique needs of each client. My therapeutic approach also draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Parts Work. This allows us to explore how early experiences and relational patterns have shaped your current beliefs and behaviors. With these insights, we will develop practical skills to create meaningful change.

In my work with couples, I utilize the Gottman Method to focus on improving communication, strengthening connection, fostering care and closeness, and creating tangible mediation interventions. I view therapy as a collaboration and emphasize the importance of the therapeutic alliance. Together, we will move at a pace that feels comfortable to you, while insight, growth, healing, and lasting change.
